We scan our musical horizons starting in the west, with a suite of dances from the Celtic world before turning our eyes north to Finland for Sibelius's much-loved Karelia Suite. Seeking warmer climes, we fly south where Respighi’s Pines of Rome offer shade in the Italian heat. Our last compass point directs us east to the dazzling light of Shostakovich's Violin Concerto, where once again we welcome Callum Smart as our brilliant soloist.
